A former children's show science guru, Dr. Apocalypse had his show purged from America's airwaves by McCarthy's Inquisition in the winter of 1952. Transforming his vast knowledge of science into a weapon to be used against his oppressors, he struck back at the heart of the Inquisition's powerbase, the sinister and dystopian citadel of Fort Eagle, Nebraska. Driven back by the sinister agents of the Inquisition after wreaking a terrible revenge, Dr. Apocalypse was forced to flee into the wilderness of Colorado. This may have been the Anti-Communist Inquisition's greatest mistake, as it allowed him to encounter the fugitive Emperor Norton VI, and he was quickly recruited into the Invisible Empire as Minister of Education, Devastation, and Infernal Contraptions. Imprisoned by the League of Omnibenevolence in 1971 in the Hollyfield Federal Penitentiary for the Insane for "crimes against humanity", which we find laughable given the vile nature of that organisation, Dr. Apocalypse languished in that hell-hole until freed by His Transparent Majesty in 1988 in Operation: Iron Platypus. Restored to freedom, the good doctor turned his attention to the construction of the Imperial Archives in order to preserve the knowledge of the Empire. That task contiunes to this day. In a related assignment, the Invisible Emperor has commissioned Dr. Apocalypse to create this website, so that the Unwashed Masses™ might learn of their true place in the world to come. |
