The end product of an ancient Hibernian breeding project, the Marshal's story properly begins with some words regarding that project. Conceived of by the druids of Ireland (prior to their eventual exile and death in Finland), it was a project of truly breathtaking scope, an attempt to produce the ultimate human being, an Irishman that wouldn't let whiskey stop him from conquering the world. In many ways, it was a success, Marshal Vater is highly resistant to all toxins (not just alcohol) and possesses the stamina of twelve men. Yet, in some respects it failed. Purists in the field of eugenics claim the major reason for it's failures were the elimination of druidic oversight, yet this is not the only reason. Even bereft of the supervision of the druids the project continued, from Ancient Ireland down through the centuries to the Potato Famine of the 1840s. At this point various descendants of the project fled overseas, some were routed to Australia and were lost forever (pending the results of Dr. Apocalypse's researches into para-chronic probability). However, the branch that entered the Empire of the United States remained fruitful and produced many offspring. In a curious twist of fate, however, the project became known to various members of the rebellious secret society known as the Ku Klux Klan. They subverted the noble goals of the founders and attempted to channel the project towards their nefarious ends. This ended with the destruction of the Grand Majestic Cyclopean Dragon Knight by the forces of the false government in 1928. Fortunately, the project's bloodline was not allowed to fall into the hands of the false government, unfortunately, it was spirited out of the country by the agents of the Thule Society and turned over to their political wing, the National Socialist, or 'Nazi', Party. The Aryan eugenicists of the Hitlerian Regime bent the project nearly to its breaking point in their attempt to produce the "Over-man", never once realizing that they were exalting an Irish bloodline. The Marshal's family remained in thrall to the Hitlerian dogma until 1987 when the Invisible Emperor himself struck at the hidden Thule refuge in Neuschwabenland, Antarctica. Leading a handpicked squad of loyal imperialists, the Invisible Emperor destroyed the Thule refuge, avenging the wrongs done to the Empire by the Thule Society and the Hitlerian Regime. In the course of the raid, the young Weiss and his family were liberated from the chains of Hitlerian Oppression™ and were taken back to the Hidden City and offered a choice. Either they could join the ranks of the Empire and bring true justice and benevolent tyranny to the world, or they could leave, and make their way as best they could. So inspired by the Invisible Emperor's gracious kindness, every single one of them chose to stay and help restore the Empire. Joining the Imperial Militia in 1993, Weiss distinguished himself in many operations against the false government and quickly rose in rank. By 1997 he was a full colonel in the Imperial Militia and came to the Invisible Emperor with a Grand Idea™. Colonel Vater proposed an organization that would combine the many and varied security functions then distributed amongst a variety of Imperial Agencies. The Invisible Emperor approved the plan and in 1998, Weiss was promoted to the rank of Marshal of the Imperial Order of Peace. He has performed admirably at this task. |
